Privacy Policy
We don't collect your data. ClosetMinded has no accounts, no servers of ours, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your wardrobe lives on your iPhone.
What stays on your iPhone
- Photos of your clothes, and the items, outfits, trips, packing lists, notes and care records you create.
- Your city: a place name, never your precise location.
- Colour profile (optional): a skin-tone step and undertone you choose yourself. It is kept on this device only and is not synced.
- Crash reports: stored on the device. They are only sent anywhere if you choose to export and share them yourself.
Backups
ClosetMinded doesn't sync anywhere. Your wardrobe is included in your normal iPhone backup (iCloud Backup or a computer), so restoring or moving to a new iPhone brings it with you. Apple manages those backups; we can't see them.
When something leaves your phone
Only in the cases below, and never with a name, account, or any identifier from us.
| Service | What is sent | When |
|---|---|---|
| Open-Meteo (weather) | The approximate centre of your city, rounded to about 1 km | Showing today's weather or a trip forecast |
| Apple Maps | A city name, or a search like "dry cleaner" near your area | Looking up a city, or finding cleaners and tailors nearby |
| Hugging Face | Nothing about you. The app downloads a tagging model (about 2 GB) | Only if you choose the "On this phone (better)" tagging option |
| Anthropic (Claude) | The photo you are tagging, sent with your own API key | Only if you choose a Claude tagging option and enter your own key |
| The name of a garment, e.g. "brown leather chelsea boots" | Only when you tap "See examples", which opens your browser |
If you use Claude tagging, your photos are handled under Anthropic's privacy policy and your own agreement with Anthropic. Your API key is stored in your iPhone's Keychain and is sent only to Anthropic. Neither the key nor your photos ever reach us.
Permissions
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Camera | Photographing your clothes |
| Location (approximate) | Setting your city for weather, and finding shops nearby. Optional: you can type your city instead |
| Calendar | Suggesting an outfit for today's events. Read on your phone; nothing from your calendar leaves it |
| Face ID | The optional app lock, only if you turn it on |
ClosetMinded doesn't ask for access to your photo library. When you pick photos, iOS hands over only the ones you choose.
Deleting your data
- In the app: Settings → Erase everything removes all of it from your iPhone.
- Deleting the app also removes everything from your iPhone. Older iPhone backups may still contain a copy until they're replaced or deleted.
Children
ClosetMinded isn't directed at children under 13, and since we don't collect personal data, we hold none about anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Any change that sends new data off your phone will be announced in the app before it happens.
